On October 11th, 2008 the Girl Scouts of Virginia celebrated their 95th Anniversary at the Greater Richmond Convention Center. As an invited guest we brought 2 of our Alpacas (Cody & Gustav), setup our farm display, and provided a morning and afternoon craft for the girls.
Cody and Gustav entertained the crowd as Patrick and Sherry answered questions about the alpacas, their fiber and products, and the services provided at our farm. Many of the troop leaders, parents, and girl scouts are looking forward to scheduling a farm tour and fiber workshop to earn a "Fiber Badge".
Our daughter (Kathy) and Sherry's mom (Judy) worked the craft tables; in the morning about 400 girls glued alpaca fiber to an alpaca shaped refrigerator magnet. During the afternoon about 50 girls wet felted alpaca beads and made a bracelet or a necklace.
Congratulations to the Girl Scouts on their 95th Anniversary!! |
