Girl Scout Troop Earns "Yarn and Fabric Arts" Badge
The Girl Scouts earned a "Yarn and Fabric Arts" Badge by learning about Alpacas and participating in activities with the Alpaca Fleece.
During the lecture part of the tour the girls learned about the history of the Alpacas, how Alpaca Fleece is processed, and the import of Alpacas from South America to the USA.
The girls participated in a fiber workshop where they were taught how to do a Wet Felting project.They each made 3 or 4 felted beads from shorn Alpaca Fleece.Kool-Aid was used to dye selected beads.Hemp Cord was threaded through the beads then between the beads knots were tied to add character to the bracelet or necklace.
The Girl Scouts took the Wet Felted jewelry they made and some informational handouts home.
An educational and fun time was had by ALL!!!
